Interview invitations
When medicine interview invitations come out.
When each undergraduate-entry medical school sends its interview invitations for 2027 entry, what decides who is invited, and what to do on the day the email arrives. Checked on 27 October 2026 against each school's own pages.
School by school
| University | Invitations | Who is invited |
|---|---|---|
| WSUMMI | By the end of October. Source: Western Sydney University (opens in a new tab) | UCAT ANZ, for applicants who clear the ATAR threshold for their category: Greater Western Sydney, rural or other. Invitations go out by email by the end of October. |
| Charles SturtMMI | Late October 2026. Source: Charles Sturt University (opens in a new tab) | UCAT ANZ, for applicants who clear the selection rank. A rural entry scheme has a lower threshold. |
| UNSWPanel | 16 December 2026 for applicants whose results are final, 7 January 2027 for late results. Source: University of New South Wales (opens in a new tab) | A combination of ATAR and UCAT ANZ. For general entry the ATAR threshold is 96.00 without adjustments and the UCAT threshold is the 50th percentile; rural entry sits lower on both. |
| Newcastle JMPMMI | By mid November. Source: University of Newcastle – UNE Joint Medical Program (opens in a new tab) | An aggregate of the UCAT ANZ verbal reasoning, decision making and quantitative reasoning subtests. The situational judgement subtest does not count. |
| MonashMMI | Round one: 12 October 2026 for the Dean’s Rural List, 14 October for other Victorian applicants. Round two: 19 December. Round three: 15 January 2027. Source: Monash University (opens in a new tab) | Not published in detail. Final selection weighs ATAR, UCAT ANZ and the MMI equally. Only applicants who finished school within the last two years and have not started other tertiary study are eligible. |
| UQMMI | Mid to late October 2026, by email from UQ, for applicants who applied directly. QTAC emails Greater Brisbane applicants and gives no date. Source: University of Queensland (opens in a new tab) | The aggregate of the first four UCAT ANZ sections, for applicants with an adjusted ATAR of 95 or above. UQ or QTAC emails the invitations, depending on how you applied. |
| AdelaideMMI | Not published yet | UCAT ANZ alone, for applicants who meet the academic minimum. The academic record is not considered when deciding who is invited. |
| UWAMMI | By email after the WACE exams finish. Source: University of Western Australia (opens in a new tab) | The top ranked UCAT ANZ candidates within each quota: WA school leavers, rural, Broadway and interstate. UCAT must be sat in the year of the TISC application. |
| CurtinMMI | For the December round, on or after the last day of the WACE exams. Source: Curtin University (opens in a new tab) | A ranking on ATAR, UCAT ANZ and Casper. Offers are then ranked on ATAR, UCAT and the MMI. |
| BondMMI | 26 February 2027, after psychometric testing from 12 to 17 February. Source: Bond University (opens in a new tab) | Academic results first, then the psychometric tests. Bond does not use UCAT. |
| JCUPanel | Not published yet | Predicted or actual academic results, within separate applicant pools. Final results must reach QTAC by 7 December 2026. JCU does not use UCAT, and it dropped its written application in 2024. |
What decides who is invited
Each school sets its own rule, and the rules differ more than students expect. Most of the schools on this page use UCAT ANZ, often with an ATAR threshold beside it. Adelaide invites on UCAT alone. Bond and JCU do not use UCAT at all. Several schools run separate pools for rural applicants, with their own thresholds.
So an invitation from one school and silence from another say nothing about each other. They were decided on different measures.
The day the email arrives
- Read it twice. It usually names the format, the length and how to book a time, and sometimes the number of stations.
- Book or confirm your time. Some schools treat a missed interview as a withdrawn application and offer no other date.
- Set up the room, if it is online. Camera, sound and a quiet space, tested on the device you will use.
- Count the weeks. Put the date into the timeline planner and it gives you an order of work from today.
If nothing has come yet
Look in the junk folder and in the admissions centre's portal before anything else. Then check the school's round: several schools invite in more than one round. UNSW invites again once late results are final, Monash runs three rounds, and Curtin runs a December round and two in January.
Keep preparing for the schools that have not decided yet. The work is the same for all of them.
