Interview by university
The WSU interview, and how to prepare for it.
Western Sydney University interviews as an MMI. This page is what is particular to WSU: the shape of the interview, when it falls, who is invited and what the school says it marks. The method for the format is on its own page, linked below.

Checked against westernsydney.edu.au (opens in a new tab) on 3 October 2026. Dates from the school's key dates (opens in a new tab). Thresholds and dates move between cycles, and the school's own page for this year is the one to trust. Every school's dates.
When will I hear back from WSU?
Offers for 2027 entry: 8 January 2027, in UAC’s January Round 1. The offer is the answer. WSU publishes no date for telling you how the interview went, so hearing nothing in between is normal.
Every school's offer dates, and why the wait is so long.
My note on WSU
This is my own school, and most of the students I coach are preparing for this interview. The invitation comes by the end of October and the interview is in late November, so plan on as little as four weeks between the two. That is enough for a plan, weekly stations and a full mock, if you start the week the email arrives. WSU offers no other date if you cannot make yours, so keep late November free.
Preparing for an MMI
Each station is marked on its own, so the two skills that matter most are reading the prompt for what it is really asking and leaving a bad station behind in its room. Both can be practised, and both are what the stations on this site are for.
What to work on
WSU does not publish a list of qualities. These are the marking domains its stations most often turn on.
- Ethical reasoning Can you see both sides of a dilemma, name the principle at stake, and reach a decision you can defend?
- Motivation for medicine Is your reason yours, is it specific, and does it survive the follow-up question?
Expect to be asked why WSU in particular. How to answer “why do you want to study here?”
Stations to run first
These cover the areas WSU says it marks, or the areas its stations most often turn on. Thirty seconds to read each question, two minutes to answer it out loud.
